Underactive Thyroid
From the desk of Dr.
Sean Patterson
Thyroid hormones affect over 80% of the tissues in our body.
They are extremely important to your metabolism and well being.
Underactive thyroid is know as a hypothyroid
condition.
Women with a poorly functioning thyroid gland can exhibit
symptoms like;
 |
Depression |
 |
Brain fog |
 |
Cravings for sweets and
starches |
 |
Sagging skin especially under the arms |
 |
Hair Loss |
 |
Vertical ridges on the finger nails |
 |
Cold hands and feet |
 |
Chronic Fatigue |
One of the biggest frustrations and complaints I hear when
speaking to female patients is that their doctors have run lab
tests on the thyroid, and everything is in normal range.
What I like to tell my patients, is that there is only so
much that can be interpreted from traditional lab tests. Much
can be learned from my patient’s symptoms. I have learned to
ask the right questions, and then to be quiet and
listen. I am sure that is why us Doctors have been given
TWO ears and only ONE mouth.
Many people do not know that a large amount of thyroid
hormone activation takes place in the Liver.
One of the first things I must do with my thyroid sufferers
is to get there liver functioning better using whole food
nutrition, detoxification and natural supplementation. That is
followed by a specific exercise and lifestyle plan that is
geared toward “revitalizing” the Thyroid System.
In many cases, my best success stories have not come from
treating the thyroid directly, but treating it indirectly via
the Adrenal Fatigue
