Dieting Myths and Nutrition

Every one knows that nutrition is very important to weight loss, and how your body looks and feels.

The first thing I try to explain to those I work with is that there is a large amount of bad information when it comes to dieting and eating healthy. For years many people have been told that the food pyramid is a healthy way to eat. I think that has led to many over weight, unhealthy people. I tell people that just because grains grow well in our country, doesn’t mean we ought to be basing our diet on them.

The next questions I often get is: what should I eat?

That is a great question, but to answer it we must know what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying to lose belly fat, you may eat differently than someone trying to get their blood sugar under control. There are different ways to eat if you have thyroid problems, stress problems, chronic fatigue, chronic pain and so on.

There is NO template I can give you to help you accomplish your goals. What there is, are ways of eating that can and will give you the best chances of accomplishing your goals safely, quickly and with as little effort as possible.

I like to help people pick the “low bearing fruit”. The fruit that you can simply reach up and pick. Too many people are trying to climb the tree to get the small, unripe fruit at the top, when all you need to do is simply know where to reach!

Dieting

I don’t even like the word “Diet”. It has such a negative meaning in most minds (including mine). My goal is to create a lifestyle of eating that WORKS FOR YOU, and gives you the body and health you desire. There are so many fad diets that just seem to injure the metabolism and leads to more stress and frustration. It is just not feasible to be stuck on low calorie diets, low carb diets, high protein diets, and diets that have you eating or drinking expensive, horrible tasting foods and drinks.
